"Outstanding" LAE Tottenham

OFSTED success for LAE Tottenham!

Following a visit in November 2021, LAE Tottenham has been awarded the highest possible grade of “outstanding” in all areas in the school’s first ever OFSTED inspection. The judgements for each area - the quality of education; behaviour and attitudes; personal development and leadership and management were each rated outstanding - the highest grade possible.

The full report which will be published on the Ofsted website in the coming days describes how learners are “inspired by their studies”, with the school described as having “a studious environment where they are encouraged and challenged to achieve their best academically, and to contribute to the local community.” As well as the “excellent progress” made academically, the report notes the “ambitious and challenging curriculum” which leads to students learning to “conduct themselves with integrity and grow in their understanding of the diverse communities that they live in”.

Also noted is the impact of the ambitious Chrysalis East programme, funded by Rokos Capital Management, LAE Tottenham’s partnership work with local primary and secondary schools. The report praises the work for “promoting and improving educational standards in the local area”, a core part of LAE Tottenham’s wider mission.

Headteacher Jan Balon stated “we are delighted that Ofsted has recognised that Tottenham has become synonymous with outstanding education. Our students and the wider community are ambitious, passionate and talented and we are proud to be able to offer the opportunities this community deserves”.

Adam Pettitt, Head of Highgate School, LAE Tottenham’s education sponsor and Acting Chair of Governors said “It is wonderful to read external, dispassionate affirmation of our students’ ambition, talent, achievement and integrity: I hope that this inspection judgement will help cement the confidence of this and future generations of Tottenham families in the phenomenal and inspiring capacity of their young people. I could not be prouder of them or of the staff who work so hard to support and inspire them”

Donna-Maria-Cullen, Executive Director of Tottenham Hotspur, LAE Tottenham’s business sponsor said “we could not be more proud of LAE Tottenham and its continued achievements in providing a first-class educational opportunity to young people in the heart of London N17 – huge congratulations to the fantastic school staff and students. The ‘Outstanding’ Ofsted rating follows on from the school being recently named Sunday Times Sixth Form College of the Year and consecutive years of impressive A-Level results. LAE Tottenham shines a light on the immense talent that clearly exists amongst young people within our community - we look forward to seeing the school continue to go from strength to strength.”
