MR KUMAR PANJA 

Kumar works for JP Morgan Corporate & Investment Bank and is a governor of Highgate School.

Mr Adam PETTITT 

Adam Pettitt has been Head of Highgate School since 2006. He studied French and German at university and began his teaching career at Eton College. He was subsequently Head of German at Oundle School and Head of Modern Languages at Abingdon School. In 1998, he was appointed as Deputy Head at Norwich School, a post he held until his appointment as Head at Highgate.

Highgate School, LAET’s principal educational sponsor, also leads the Chrysalis Programme, which has created partnerships with over forty maintained schools in Haringey, Camden, Brent and Islington, providing a wide range of support and which inspired LAET’s own Chrysalis East programme.

He is currently Deputy Chair of Governors and the Chair of the Partnerships Committee at LAE Tottenham.

Adam continues to teach languages at Highgate. He is interested in the ways school culture can develop teaching and learning and prevent these from being limited by examinations, important though academic qualifications are."

Mr John Pheasant  

John is Bursar of Highgate School. A Mathematics graduate, he served in the Royal Navy reaching the rank of Commander before his appointment to Highgate; during this time he also qualified as a barrister practising in criminal and international law.

John serves on the Finance Committee of the London Academy of Excellence in Stratford and is also a member of the Governing Body at Kingsford Community School in Beckton.

He is currently the Chair of the Finance, Resources and Compliance Committee at LAE Tottenham.

Governors 

ms Rebecca hilsenrath (Chair of governors) 

Rebecca Hilsenrath KC (Hon) is the Chief Executive of the Parliamentary and Health Service Ombudsman.  She trained and practised law at Linklaters and then worked in the Government Legal Service, where she held a number of roles in the then Department for Education and Skills and in the Attorney General’s Office. She was then appointed CEO of LawWorks (the Solicitors Pro Bono Group), a national charity facilitating free legal advice to community groups and individuals in need, where she worked for five years before moving in 2014 to the Equality and Human Rights Commission initially as Chief Legal Officer and subsequently as CEO.

Rebecca has also established two schools, set up the National Pro Bono Centre in Chancery Lane and has sat on the boards of a number of charities and advice agencies, including the Bar Pro Bono Unit and the Mary Ward Legal Centre. In 2012, she was listed by the Times among the 100 most influential lawyers in the country and she has two honorary doctorates for services to the legal profession.

Rebecca is the Chair of Governors at LAE Tottenham.

Ms Aisha Ayub 

Aisha is the Assistant Principal responsible for Teaching & Learning at Eden Girls' School, Waltham Forest (EGWF) where she took up the role in 2020. Aisha was appointed Director of Learning for Computing at Eden as part of the founding teaching team in 2014. Whilst at the school, she began her National Professional Qualification for Middle Leadership (NPQML) and later completed her National Professional Qualification for Senior Leadership (NPQSL) and National Professional Qualification for Headship (NPQH). 

Aisha, born, raised, and educated in East London, has been an educator for 23 years, teaching across East London and Norfolk. Deeply connected to her community, she has raised three daughters in the area and is dedicated to giving back through her work and service. In her spare time, Aisha is a passionate amateur athlete who champions diversity and representation in sports, particularly encouraging women and girls from minority backgrounds to participate in running, cycling, and triathlon. In 2024, she achieved the prestigious London Classics accolade and has exciting events, including an Ultra, planned for 2025. 

Ms Donna-Maria Cullen 

Donna is an Executive Director of Tottenham Hotspur Football Club and has spent over 25 years in business management. She advised the Club over a period of 14 years prior to joining the Board in 2006, Donna currently oversees the Club's Planning Consultations, Communications, Content and Marketing departments.

Donna was previously with Chime plc and was Deputy MD of Good Relations. She specialised in the field of corporate and financial communications and marketing, having also worked in public affairs. Early major campaigns included the privatisation of BP, Thames Water and AEA Technology.

She graduated from the University of Cape Town in 1984 with a double Masters in Politics and English.

Donna is a trustee of the Tottenham Hotspur Foundation which undertakes Educational programmes. 

Ms Joan Deslandes 

 

mr TIMI DORGU 

Timi Dorgu is a Head of Strategy at consumer goods giant, L’Oréal. He started on their graduate scheme in 2010 before leading teams across various brands across both commercial and marketing functions. He has also worked in the Diversity sector.

Passionate about education creating opportunities for all, he leads his family’s charity – the Joshua Dorgu Foundation – working to raise the aspirations and attainment of students from disadvantaged backgrounds across North London.

He is currently the Chair of the Education and Standards Committee at LAE Tottenham.

ms Monica Duncan 

Monica Duncan was in the education sector for 43 years, 24 as a Headteacher. She has served communities in Birmingham, Coventry, South and North London. Monica has made it her mission to working in challenging communities, as she believes that education is the greatest asset to benefit young people.

Her passion for championing young people is further served by her contribution to the governing bodies of a primary school and a sixth-form academy. She is also a trustee for the London Dioceses Board of Schools.

Having recently retired from education, Monica now wants to further her passion for working with young people through being an ambassador for adoption and fostering services, to transform life chances. Her education leadership experience and years of working with young people can be drawn on and contribute at top tables to make a difference.

Her personal mantra for life is ‘where there is a will, there is a way’.

In her spare time, aquarobics, reading and theatre visits keep her balanced.

MR tony hartney 

Tony Hartney CBE was Headteacher at Gladesmore Community School for 23 years and is now and Educational Consultant. 

mr nicholaS HEWLETT 

Nick joined St Dunstan’s College in September 2014 as one of the youngest Heads in HMC, at 34 years old. No stranger to South East London, he attended Whitgift School before later teaching at Dulwich College. After holding various leadership positions at Magdalen College School in Oxford, Nick took the brave decision to help set-up and lead a flagship independent school in South Korea, as part of a franchise with North London Collegiate School. After 3 years, Nick and others had developed an oversubscribed day and boarding school for approximately 1000 children, with some of the strongest IB results in Asia.

Returning to his stomping ground in London, Nick has taken St Dunstan’s on a significant journey in recent years, being awarded Co-Educational Independent School of the Year in 2019 and TES School of the Year in 2022, alongside many other accolades.

St Dunstan’s has recently expanded its footprint to incorporate more local schools into St Dunstan’s Education Group, of which Nick is Executive Head.

Mr Sam Madden 

Sam Madden joined Alleyn’s as the new Senior Deputy Head in September 2024 after a distinguished seven-year tenure as Deputy Head (Wellbeing) at St Paul’s School, where he played a pivotal role in promoting the health and wellbeing of both students and staff. 

His approach to education is rooted in the belief that a supportive environment for pupils is best fostered by ensuring teachers are happy, healthy, and passionate. He worked closely with parents and staff at St Paul’s, recognising the importance of a holistic approach to pupil welfare that includes informed and engaged parents. His efforts have been instrumental in creating environments where pupils and staff alike can thrive. 

Before entering the field of education, Mr Madden built a diverse professional portfolio, holding roles as a political consultant in the House of Commons and as a strategic consultant at Accenture. He holds a First Class degree in Geography from Exeter University and a Master’s degree from the London School of Economics, where he focused on the intersections of Geography, Politics, and Economics. 

Amongst significant and sector-leading work in the areas of wellbeing and mental health, Mr Madden has also led in Character Education and in Equality, Diversity and Inclusion across St Paul’s, played a lead role in Oxbridge preparation and coached various rugby and football teams. He serves on the board of the Youth Coalition for Mental Health and is a certified Mental Health First Aid instructor. He is also certified to deliver suicide prevention workshops, equipping teachers, first responders, and the public with the necessary tools to address mental health crises.

Lord Francis Maude 

Lord Francis Maude, Baron Maude of Horsham, is a prominent British Conservative Party politician. He held various significant positions during his career, including Minister for the Cabinet Office and Paymaster General from 2010 to 2015.

Lord Maude has also served as Shadow Chancellor of the Exchequer, Shadow Foreign Secretary, and Chairman of the Conservative Party. After over 27 years as an MP, he became a life peer in 2015. He later served as Minister for Trade and Investment before transitioning to lead his own consultancy, Francis Maude Associates (FMA), specialising in government efficiency.

MR GOLDWATER OJOKOR 

Goldwater is the Headteacher of Gladesmore Community School. Born and raised locally in Hackney, Goldwater has dedicated his professional life to the Tottenham community.

He joined Gladesmore in 1997 as a newly qualified Maths teacher, eager to share his enthusiasm for equations and problem-solving with all the pupils. He was swiftly promoted to Head of Year and then to Assistant Headteacher, Deputy Headteacher and, most recently, Associate Headteacher. In these roles, he has had the privilege of working with families from Gladesmore School for over 25 years.

MR LAMIN TARAWALLY 

 

Mr Paul Teulon 

Paul has been the Head of Global Recognition at the International Baccalaureate for the last five years and prior to this was the Director of Admissions and Registry Services at King's College London.

After reading Economics at Fitzwilliam College, Cambridge he proceeded to work for both the Admissions Offices in Cambridge and Oxford for the next decade where his responsibilities included Student Recruitment, Summer Schools, Widening Participation and Admissions Policy.

He was born in Barking and attended state school and sixth-form college in Havering, which drives his passion for all students to have the best start in life and the maximum number of opportunities to help them fulfil their potential.

He was on the founding Governing Body at LAE Stratford and also the founding Governing Body at LAE Tottenham and served until recently as the Chair of the Education Sub-Committee.

He also serves as a governor at the Saffron Walden County High School in north Essex.

MR Andrew Webster 

Andrew is an experienced senior leader in education, with over 24 years of experience in the field. He is currently the Headteacher of Park View School, Tottenham, where he is passionate about raising standards and transforming outcomes for children in inner-city schools.

Andrew holds a BA (Hons) in Jazz Studies (Saxophone), a PGCE in Secondary Education, a Level 7 Diploma (Distinction) in leadership and management, and a master's degree in education leadership and management. He has also achieved chartered manager accreditation with the CMI alongside an NPQH. Andrew is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts (FRSA), an accreditation recognising his contribution to social change and education.

Alongside his headship, Andrew worked as an inspector for Ofsted for 8 years. He is currently a School Improvement Advisor for Brent School’s Partnership.

Mr Jan balon (headteacher)
